Terms of Service
Last updated
The terms that govern your use of The Tide Chart. By using the site you agree to them, so please read them.
The short version
The Tide Chart is free to use for personal planning, with no ads. Every number on it is a prediction, not a navigational aid — never bet your safety on it. Don’t scrape or resell the data, and we will keep the product open.
Acceptance of these terms
By accessing The Tide Chart you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the service.
Using The Tide Chart
You may use the site for personal, non-commercial planning. You agree not to scrape, resell or redistribute our forecast data without written permission — a licence for that is a conversation, not a crawler.
Forecast accuracy
Tide, solunar and weather figures are predictions and can be wrong. They are for planning only and are not a substitute for official nautical charts, tide tables or navigational aids. Never rely on them alone for navigation or any safety-critical decision at sea.
Free today, free tomorrow
The whole product is free right now, with no ads at any tier. A paid Pro tier is being built, but nothing that ships free is ever taken back: everything you can use today stays free. If that ever changes, it changes here first.
Data sources & attribution
Weather, marine and air-quality data by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0), air quality from CAMS, maps © OpenStreetMap contributors, place data © GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Tide predictions use the FES2022 global model (CNES/AVISO+) at every station; the NOAA CO-OPS network supplies the gauge catalogue and its datums. Astronomy is computed from the JPL DE421 ephemeris. The full methodology is on the About page.
Limitation of liability
The Tide Chart is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for losses arising from use of the service or reliance on its data.
